At Klimmen.com bookshop, I offer mainly rare and interesting
books that are mostly out of print classic mountaineering, travel, adventure and
exploration books. Most of the books we offer are first editions in at least
very good condition. They are becoming or are already scarce and sort after.
These points determine to be large extent the value and prices achieved around
the global book markets of today.
The books offered are mostly in collectable condition and would
at least retain and most will increase in their value over time. This is of
course relevant to the condition not being allowed to deteriorate further.
Beside these afore mentioned investment factors, these kind of books are simply
timeless classics and will remain enjoyment to nearly all who read them, they make
wonderful and unique gifts and heirlooms. Not forgetting they are simply an excellent read
to feel good to hold and to take pride of place on ones book shelf.

Jungle book!
It is a book jungle out there and it is very good to look
carefully at what you are buying.
To help you find your way I have several guides on book world
jargon and abbreviations, which are universally, used by dealers and collectors
the world over. (see All abount books)
Always judge (the value of) a book by its cover!
All old and out of print books are unique and so are the prices,
but generally it is good to know that such attributes as: Hardback, First
editions, A rare or scarce title, famous and successful climber accounts, niche and
extreme sports, small print runs, explorer writers and of course
signed/inscribed, will command higher prices than other editions of the same
book. In addition, the presence of a dust jacket/cover (DJ) which is more often been
damaged or lost, can influence the price and value dramatically, in some cases a
rare DJ can be worth much more than the book!
Overall, the condition of these attributes is very important and
is directly related to the price; we all want to have a perfect copy in our
collection if possible.
However, at the end of the day it is up to you to determine what
you are happy to pay for a particular book at that moment in time. You can
always read it and sell it on if you want and have found a better example
Essential reading, before buying!

I have done my best to evaluate and describe each book properly
and to inform you of most promenent defects I have found in each book I offer, next to
this I make a photo of that particular book which is shown on this site. If you need more information or images, then simply e-mail me.
After sale if you feel that you are not happy with the described book you have received.
Then it may be returned to me within 7 working days of payment made and I will
refund the price of the book or credit you against another book of your
choice. NB.>
(The returned book must be in the same condition as received!)
